PCC QUILTS TRAVEL TO NYC
Plainfield Community Church’s friend and occasional neighbor, THE REV. DR. CHLOE BREYER, gave the sermon at PCC on Sunday, October 9. She mentioned the plight of the refugees in NYC and how the NYC churches are attempting to make their lives more comfortable. The PCC quilting group immediately put together a bundle of handmade quilts for Chloe to take back to the city to share with those in need. Chloe shared the following details and pictures with us to illustrate where the quilts traveled after leaving Plainfield. Thank you PCC Quilters!
Quilts were delivered to:
1) Judson Memorial Church on Washington Square Park where they have a day respite center where many migrants from Venezuela and their families come for clothing and meals.
2) Imam Omar Niass who has a Senegalese mosque in the Bronx where 150 African men have been staying while they work or look for jobs. (!!) God-willing, they will be moved tomorrow into a better city facility where they can get healthcare, and some kind of legal help. The Imam is holding one of the quilts and Sister Adama Bah who has been welcoming migrants every day at Port Authority since August has the kids quilts.
3) Two of many Venezuelan families who have just arrived at Port Authority and Sr. Adama gave them each a kids quilt
